The 2011 Nordic World Championships will take place at the legendary Holmenkollen stadium February 24 through March 6, 2011.
The venues have been majorly revamped, including a total reconstruction of the jumping hills. Holmenkollen is by many considered the third most famous sports stadium in the world, only beat by Wimbeldon and Wembley. The renovated ski trails are wider, feature new overpasses and no intersections.
The organizers expect 650 racers from more than 60 countries, 1800 media professionals, more than 300.000 spectators and millions of TV viewers world-wide. Oslo has hosted the World Championships three times before: In 1930, 1966 and 1982. Additionally, Trondheim hosted the 1997 World Championships.
